Take your address off the internet.

People-search sites publish home addresses, phone numbers and relatives to anyone who types a name. Each one has to take you down if you ask the right way. Search each site for yourself, mark where you’re listed, and follow its opt-out, or let Pro send the requests for you.

Free and private. The checklist runs in your browser; your name and progress are saved only there unless you’re Pro.
Only for yourself. A request must come from the person it’s about, or someone they authorized. Sites verify, and asking for someone else’s removal can be fraud.

What this can and can't do

  • · People-search sites must delete your data on request under the privacy laws of about 20 states; most also honour opt-outs from everyone else.
  • · Listings can come back when a site buys fresh data, so check again every few months.
  • · Government records (court files, property and voter rolls) and news articles stay public; this removes the sites that gather them into a profile of you.
  • · Search engines drop a removed page on their next visit, which can take a few weeks.
